The Education Crisis in Rural Areas
Education is viewed as the most important tool to over come poverty but for those who come from rural areas is not the case for them because these pupils will not get the same education compared to those pupils who are in the cities.
We are all aware that schools in rural areas do not pay school fees and the pupil are offered food by the government but is that enough? They should not be neglected but should be given equal chances like those in civilized areas. This proves to us that even though we have over come the apartheid era but we still remain a divided nation. In order for one to get educated they may need proper resources like textbooks and skillful teachers. That is not the case is South Africa because the government will talk and talk but at the end of the day they fail to deliver.
The Limpopo province story is a good example of how neglectful our government is. The minister of education Angie Motshekga has been in the spotlight these past months for all the wrong thing. Her ethics and moral towards education are being questioned by everyone in the country.
The minister was informed about the problems that the department may encounter but she ignored it until it was too late. The pupils are the ones that are still paying for her careless behavior because 22% of the schools in Limpopo province are still waiting for their textbooks. How can we expect a good pass rate at this point in time. They are in the 3rd term of the year and still have not received the textbooks. Read more...

This is not the only problem rural areas face! Here are some other problems they encounter:
- Lack of clean water
- No electricity
- No libraries
- Skillful teachers
- No computers
- Poor sanitation
- Not enough classroom
- No laboratories

I think that no problem will ever be completely resolved in South Africa, because we are facing many challenges. However,as citizens we fail to work together to over come this challenges.Again i can say is not fair for limpopo learners to experience such crisis.
ReplyDeletei think if a person is incompetent and does not take responsibility they should be fired because people like Angie they are responsible for other people's futures
ReplyDeleteWe all need to remember that angie herself can not make a derpartment on her own... she has coleagues or team mates, and theis problem must not only blamly focused on angie...her being fired is not going to change or solve this issue, let her be given a chance to fix this issue
